Timber formwork
This is a formwork that consists mainly of wood. This is a very labour-intensive and time-consuming way of shuttering, as you have to hammer everything together piece by piece and adjust planks.
Emergence Insulating formwork.
BASF Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) foam (Styropor®) was accidentally invented by a BASF scientist Fritz Stastny in 1949 when he was experimenting with the process of using steam to expand beads and the possible commercial applications for polystyrene in general as a possible insulator for telephone wires.
A researcher forgot a sample of clear polystyrene in the baking oven. To his surprise, after a few hours he found what he then described as "a real foam sample".
BASF perfected the injection moulding process for their new plastic foam and patented it in 1952, introducing the new product Styropor®.
EPS was first introduced to the public at the plastics fair
Düsseldorf. With steam it became "the lightest toy ship in the world".
Since then, EPS has become one of the most widely used insulation materials in the world and is increasingly used in the construction of energy-efficient buildings!
